The Owners
Doug's NASCAR background of over 30 years includes winning three California State Championships, as a driver from 1977 through 1989. From 1990 through 2004 Doug built and managed teams in the NASCAR Cup, Busch and Craftsman Truck Series for a multitude of drivers, including Rusty Wallace, Bill Elliot, Phil Parsons, Phil Barkdoll, Patty Moise, Tim Fedewa, David Bonnett, Kevin Lepage and Kerry Earnhardt. In 2005, Doug served as the Engineering Consultant to the PPI/Tide NASCAR team. As of 2006, Doug has been a Co-owner and Partner in Specialty Racing.
Charles is in his 25th year of NASCAR involvement, beginning as an owner and driver in the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series from 1983 through 1988 and continuing as a an owner and driver in the NASCAR Sportsman Series from 1989 through 1995. During 1996 through 1999, Charles served as Consultant to Doug Taylor Motorsports / Specialty Motorsports. Prior to becoming a Co-owner and Partner in Specialty Racing in 2006, Charles spent six years as a Consultant to various racing organizations. Charles has been a Certified Public Accountant in Jacksonville, Florida for 25 years and leads seminars on Taxation and Accounting.
About Us
Specialty Racing LLC is owned by Doug Taylor and Charles Shoffner and was reestablished in 2006 from the Doug Taylor Motorsports / Specialty Motorsports NASCAR team of the 1990's.
Our last full season of competition included one win, one pole, seven top five starts, seven top five finishes, ten top ten finishes and finished seventh in the season points championship. Our client history includes Kleenex, Dial/Purex, Channellock, Dunlop Golf and Lance.
